The Rundown

Night 1, 8/14: Symphony

Picnic in Grant Park, courtesy of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra

Join us Friday evening in Grant Park for one of our favorite Chicago summer traditions: a picnic on the lawn while listening to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra perform under the stars. We’ll gather with food, drinks, and blankets in the back of the park for a relaxed evening to kick off the weekend together.

If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly. In the event of rain, our plan is to escape to a nearby Chicago establishment for drinks and festivities—location TBD.

Night 2, 8/15:
Ba Ba Reeba

Paella in Lincoln Park. Toasts, tapas, tinto

Join us Saturday evening at Café Ba-Ba-Reeba! in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood for a night of tapas, sangria, and celebration. An old favorite of Ellen and Randy’s, the restaurant also feels especially fitting for Alicia and Damian, who served paella at their playa wedding.

Dinner will be served family-style, with a spread of Spanish tapas meant for sharing around the table alongside drinks, music, and plenty of time to linger together. The dress code for the evening is Mediterranean Cocktail — think linen, late-night Madrid, colorful pieces, and the sort of outfit you’d wear lingering over drinks at a long summer dinner party. We’re so excited to raise a toast (and pass a few plates) with all of you.

night 2.2, 8/15: the AFters

Tbd, honestly

But Alicia and Damian like good music and a good vibe, and there’s lots of that in Chicago. Stay tuned.

Day 3, 8/16:
brunch

Look, we’re really stoked on our house.

Join us Sunday morning at Alicia and Damian’s condo for a laid-back send-off brunch with bagels, orange juice, champagne, the combination of the aforementioned two, coffee, and one last slow morning together before everyone heads home. We’ll be gathering in West Town at our home for an easy, come-as-you-are close to the weekend, ideally with a coffee in hand and at least one person still slightly dressed from the night before.

Guests will also have the opportunity to meet Rocky. This does, unfortunately, mean being around Orwell as well. We can’t wait to spend a final few hours eating, lingering, and saying goodbye properly before everyone heads out of town.
